I want to encourage young people in this day and age to come to know Jesus and step out in faith.
HOW TO MOVE FORWARD
1, Emphasize the importance of Jesus as our High Priest and Apostle (Hebrews 3:1). Highlight how Jesus understands our struggles and is able to sympathize with us (Hebrews 4:15). Encourage young people to approach Jesus with confidence and seek His guidance in their lives.
2. Discuss the significance of having unwavering faith in challenging circumstances. Use the example of Moses and the Israelites in the wilderness (Hebrews 3:2-6). Explain how they faced various trials and temptations but ultimately persevered through their faith in God. Encourage young people to trust in God's faithfulness and promises, even when circumstances seem difficult.
3. Explore the concept of "rest" mentioned in Hebrews 3:11. Explain that this rest refers to the ultimate rest found in Jesus Christ, where we can find peace and security. Encourage young people to find rest in Jesus amidst the chaos and challenges of life.
SOME HELPFUL IDEAS
1. Include Hebrews 11:1, which defines faith as the assurance of things hoped for and the conviction of things not seen. This verse reinforces the importance of unwavering faith in our relationship with Jesus.
2. Consider incorporating Hebrews 12:1-2, which encourages believers to run with endurance the race set before them, looking to Jesus as the author and perfecter of their faith. This passage can inspire young people to persevere in their faith journey, even when faced with obstacles.
3. In Hebrews 3:6, the word "confidence" is used. Highlight its significance by explaining that it means boldness, assurance, and trust. Connect this word to the idea of stepping out in faith and encourage young people to have confidence in Jesus.
4. Look for other instances in the Bible where the words "faith" or "trust" are used in relation to challenging circumstances. For example, consider incorporating the story of Daniel in the lion's den (Daniel 6) or the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in the fiery furnace (Daniel 3). These stories can further illustrate the power of unwavering faith.
Remember to weave these additional ideas and Scripture passages into your sermon in a way that reinforces your main points and encourages young people to come to know Jesus and step out in faith.
